The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) crisis escalated as the Nyesom Wike-loyal faction of the National Executive Committee (NEC) expelled several key figures, including Governors Seyi Makinde (Oyo State), Bala Mohammed (Bauchi State), and Dauda Lawal (Zamfara State), as well as former officials and the recently elected National Chairman Kabiru Turaki. The expulsion followed a controversial national convention in Ibadan where Wike's faction was expelled. The NEC also dissolved state executive councils in six states and plans caretaker committees and fresh congresses, citing anti-party activities and disobedience to court orders.
