The open letter highlights the alarming rise of banditry, kidnappings, terrorism, and infiltration, which has led to the displacement of villagers, brutalization of elders, women, and children, and the existence of "sleeping cells" of terror in towns and cities.
The letter, signed by Princess Adeola Atayèro Olamijulo and Olatayo Ogedengbe Esq, appeals to leaders to champion community security, mobilize youths, and secure Yoruba lives, lands, and properties. The Aare Ona Kakanfo, Oloye Gani Adams, is specifically called upon to wake up to his historic responsibilities and lead the defense of Yorubaland.
The letter also urges traditional leaders to galvanize their communities, political leaders to prioritize security, and religious leaders to preach unity and vigilance. Business leaders are called upon to invest in community security, while self-determination leaders are asked to mobilize youth responsibly.
The Yoruba Nation Global Directorate is demanding an immediate security summit, youth mobilization, support for displaced persons, and strategic collaboration to address the crisis.
The letter concludes with a rallying cry: "Yorùbá JÃ, Má Sùn, Ẹ̀dÃrá!" (Yoruba, wake up, don't sleep, defend yourself!)

An Urgent Appeal to Safeguard Our Homeland: “Yorùbá JÃ, Má Sùn. Ẹ̀dÃrá!
To: The Leaders of the Yoruba Nation, Traditional Leaders, Ooni Ogunwusi, Alaafin Owoade, Owa Obokun Hastrup, Alake of Egbaland, Deji of Akure, Osemawe of Ondo, All Kabiyesi and Baale, Aare Ona Kakanfo Gani Adams, Political Leaders, Religious Leaders, Business Leaders, Self-Determination Leaders, Socio-Cultural Organisation Leaders, All Prominent Yoruba Sons and Daughters
Yoruba People, Wake Up and Be Alert! (Yorùbá JÃ, Má Sùn. Ẹ̀dÃrá!)
We, the concerned sons and daughters of Yorubaland, issue this open letter to our leaders and all stakeholders in the Yoruba Nation.
Our homeland is in grave danger. The existential threats confronting us today, including banditry, kidnappings, terrorism, infiltration, and the takeover of our villages, demand immediate, united, and decisive action.
The insecurity ravaging our communities is an assault on our dignity, our heritage, and our future.
The Cry of Yorubaland Yoruba villages are falling, our people are being displaced, and our elders, women, and children are being brutalised. “Sleeping cells” of terror exist in our towns and cities, waiting to unleash chaos.
This is not the Yoruba Nation our ancestors entrusted to us, a nation of proud, resilient, united people. Enough is enough.
A Call to Our Leaders We implore you, our leaders, to rise to this challenge:
1. Champion community security across Yorubaland.
2. Mobilise our able-bodied youths.
3. Secure Yoruba lives, lands, and properties.
The stakes are high: our survival and our sovereignty are at risk.
The Role of the Aare Ona Kakanfo By tradition, the Aare Ona Kakanfo is the Commander of Yoruba Forces, responsible for defending Yorubaland and repelling invaders.
We call specifically on Aare Ona Kakanfo, Oloye Gani Adams: Wake up to your historic responsibilities.
The Yoruba Nation needs your leadership now. Mobilise the youth, coordinate with traditional institutions, work with the Yoruba security structures, and lead the defence of our homeland. Do not wait for anyone to call you. Stand up and lead.
We respectfully ask leaders of our traditional hunters who have more spiritual power than those who are famous to stand up and defend Yorubaland.
A lesson from History We recall the 19th-century conflicts, including the Kiriji War, where our ancestors chose unity and secured peace. The Yoruba Nation has never been conquered. We must not start now.

- Traditional Leaders, galvanise your communities and strengthen local security networks.
- Political Leaders, prioritise security and collaborate across all tiers of government.
- Religious Leaders, preach unity, vigilance, and resilience.
- Business Leaders, invest in community security and social stability.

- Socio-Cultural Leaders, build unity and harness our heritage for solidarity.
Our Demands
1. Immediate Security Summit by the Aare Ona Kakanfo: Convene an urgent, strategic, and where necessary covert meeting of all stakeholders to create a unified security framework. Make it a covert meeting with directive to be issued in a press release to the Yoruba people. Please do not wait to be called by the Kabiyesi, humbly go to them.
2. Youth Mobilisation: Organise, train, and lawfully empower community defence groups.
3. Support for Displaced Persons: Provide humanitarian assistance and prepare safe return plans.
4. Strategic Collaboration: Work with Oloye Sunday Adeyemo (Igboho Ọ̀ṣà ) in any coordinated security architecture.
Yorùbá JÃ, Má Sùn, Ẹ̀dÃrá!
Our leaders, the ball is in your court. The survival of the Yoruba Nation hangs in the balance.
