Egbe Bobasola Adimula Unveils ₦500 Million Hostel Project for University of Ilesa

Egbe Bobasola Adimula of Ijesaland has announced plans to invest ₦500 million in the construction of modern accommodation facilities for students of the University of Ilesa, in a major boost to the institution’s infrastructure and welfare development.

The initiative is in response to a call to action by His Imperial Majesty, Owa Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, aimed at mobilising Ijesa sons and daughters toward supporting the growth and sustainability of the University of Ilesa. The proposed project will see the construction of a state-of-the-art 200-unit hostel, designed to significantly ease the challenge of student accommodation and enhance learning conditions.

Speaking at the Ijesa Unity Carnival after-party held in Ilesa, the President of Egbe Bobasola Adimula, Architect Rotimi Fafowora, described the project as a transformative intervention that would redefine student housing and open new opportunities for institutional growth. He expressed confidence that the investment would contribute meaningfully to the university’s quest for academic excellence.

During the banquet, Architect Fafowora, with the support of Yeye Bolajoko Lufadeju, leader of Bobasola Adimula Obinrin, the women’s wing of the association, rallied members to support the initiative. Their efforts resulted in pledges and contributions totaling ₦50 million made on the spot.

Egbe Bobasola Adimula is one of over 80 cultural and heritage groups in Ijesaland that actively participate in the annual Iwude Ijesa Festival and Ijesa Unity Carnival, events that have grown into notable global tourist attractions.

It would be recalled that Owa Clement Adesuyi Haastrup recently launched a development initiative for the University of Ilesa, announcing an initial ₦50 million personal contribution during a town-and-gown meeting at the university’s conference hall. The move followed student protests over the recent increase in off-campus hostel rent, underscoring the urgency of expanding on-campus accommodation facilities.

The proposed hostel project by Egbe Bobasola Adimula is widely seen as a timely intervention that aligns with ongoing efforts to strengthen the University of Ilesa and improve student welfare.
