Mrs. Ibukun Otesile, a 2025 President of the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Ibadan Elite and beloved daughter of Reverend Dr. Lekan Babatunde, founder of Jesus Is King Ministries, was abducted on Thursday night, 4 December 2025, at approximately 8 p.m. in front of her home in the General Gas area of Akobo, Ibadan.
According to Dr. Olamide Olanrewaju, Personal Assistant to the outgoing Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Oyo State, the mother of two was seized as she stepped through her front door by unknown assailants. The incident has sent shockwaves through both the religious and professional communities in the state capital.
The Oyo State Police Command confirmed the abduction, with Public Relations Officer Chief Superintendent Adewale Osifeso stating that “investigation is ongoing” and offering no further details on the perpetrators or any ransom demands. The command’s headquarters in Eleyele has been alerted and is actively pursuing leads.
CAN has issued an urgent plea to the Nigerian Army Headquarters and the Nigeria Police Force, urging them to deploy all necessary resources for Mrs. Otesile’s safe and immediate release ² ⁴. The family, together with CAN and concerned citizens, is asking anyone with information to share it widely and forward it to the appropriate security agencies.
The abduction comes amid heightened concerns over kidnapping for ransom in Oyo State, and the police have yet to release an official statement beyond the confirmation of the incident.
The community remains hopeful and is rallying around the Otesile family, urging prayers and the sharing of any relevant information that could aid in her rescue.
