Photos: Inside the Newly Opened Victoria Medical Centre in Ilesa as Anglican Diocese Brings Lifesaving Care Closer to Residents

The Diocese of Ilesa has announced the commencement of full operations at the Victoria Medical Centre, located at Ilesa Heritage City, with the facility officially opening to the public on Thursday, January 16, 2026.

The announcement was made by the Bishop of the Diocese, who stated that the mission-oriented medical centre is fully equipped and prepared to provide quality healthcare services to residents of Ijesaland and its environs.

Ilesa Heritage City, which also serves as the home of the Ilesa Diocese of the Anglican Communion, is strategically located around Oke-Iyanu Street in Ilesa East Local Government Area. The area can be conveniently accessed from Bolorunduro Street or Oke-Oye Street, making the medical centre easily reachable for members of the public.

According to the statement, the medical facility begins operations with two medical doctors, four nurses, and a brand new ambulance on ground to support both emergency and routine medical services.

The Bishop commended the Medical Director, Dr. Adeniyi Oginni, and his medical team for their dedication and commitment to ensuring the successful take-off of the hospital. He also gave thanks to God for the realization of the project and expressed profound appreciation to the project facilitator, fondly referred to as “our Mother,” whose support and sacrifice were described as instrumental to the establishment of the centre.

Prayers were offered for divine blessings and rewards upon her for being used by God as a source of immense blessing to the people of Ijesaland.

The opening of Victoria Medical Centre is expected to significantly improve access to healthcare services within Ilesa and further strengthen the Diocese’s contribution to community development and public health.
