All Roads Lead to Ilesa as Methodist High School Marks 70 Years of Excellence (VIDEO CLIPS)

Excitement has reached its peak as the 70th Anniversary Celebration of Methodist High School, Ilesa begins tomorrow, marking a historic milestone that will usher in seven unforgettable days of reflection, reunion, service, and celebration.

Tagged “Methodist High School, Ilesa @70: A Legacy of Excellence, A Future of Greatness,” the week-long celebration will bring together alumni, students, staff, government officials, and community stakeholders in a vibrant blend of academic, cultural, sporting, social, and spiritual activities throughout February 2026.

HERE’S WHAT TO EXPECT:

Day 1 – Monday, 16th February
The celebration opens with the arrival and registration of delegates, media engagements, a press conference, courtesy and stakeholders’ visits, lunch meetings, and a welcome dinner to formally declare the anniversary underway.

Day 2 – Tuesday, 17th February
Community engagement takes centre stage with student and media interactions, facility inspections, guided press tours, teachers’ seminars, motivational talks, health outreach programmes, and visits to government officials, community leaders, and pioneer members resident in Ilesa.

Day 3 – Wednesday, 18th February
Attention shifts to students and teachers with professional development sessions, career talks, free medical check-ups, and an intellectual quiz competition among selected schools.

Day 4 – Thursday, 19th February
Sports and inter-collegiate competitions headline the day, including a football match, career talks, and a colourful anniversary fitness and awareness walk across Ilesa town.

Day 5 – Friday, 20th February
Highlights include the anniversary lecture, commissioning of selected projects, and the OSAMETHSI Annual General Meeting, where critical alumni development plans will be discussed.

Day 6 – Saturday, 21st February
The much-anticipated Grand Homecoming and Celebration will feature alumni assembly, cultural displays, mentorship sessions, a novelty football match between Methodist High School and Ilesa Grammar School, awards presentations, a gala night, commissioning of an e-library and renovated facilities, and the prestigious 70th Anniversary Award Night.

Day 7 – Sunday, 22nd February
The week concludes with a solemn yet joyful Grand Thanksgiving Service at Otapete Methodist Cathedral by 9:00 a.m., offering prayers of gratitude for 70 years of excellence, discipline, and service to humanity.

This is more than a celebration — it is a reunion, a renewal of purpose, and a recommitment to the future of a great institution.
