The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Osun State has officially unveiled the personal particulars of candidates contesting the forthcoming governorship election, marking another key step in preparations for the poll.
In a statement issued on February 15, 2026, the Commission confirmed that fourteen political parties successfully uploaded the names and required documents of their candidates within the stipulated deadline, following the conclusion of party primaries.
According to INEC, the compliant parties are A, AA, AAC, ADC, ADP, APGA, APC, APM, APP, BP, NNPP, PRP, YPP, and ZLP.
Citing Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act 2022 and the official timetable for the election, the Commission disclosed that copies of each candidate’s Form EC9 — including academic credentials and other supporting documents — will be displayed for public scrutiny from Monday, February 16, 2026.
The documents will be available at the INEC State Office in Osogbo, as well as across all 30 Local Government Area offices and the Area Office in Osun State. Political parties, candidates, and members of the public are encouraged to inspect the submissions in accordance with the law.
INEC further clarified that only the fourteen political parties that fulfilled constitutional and regulatory requirements within the prescribed timeframe will appear on the ballot for the governorship contest.
The Commission, led in the state by Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Mutiu Agboke, reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, professionalism, and the conduct of credible elections. It also urged political stakeholders and the electorate to continue supporting its constitutional mandate as preparations for the Osun governorship race gather momentum.
The statement was signed by Musa Olurode, Public Affairs Officer, INEC Osun State, on behalf of the Resident Electoral Commissioner.
