Ijesaland has been thrown into mourning following the death of one of its most illustrious sons, Chief Michael Olumuyiwa Falomo, who passed on today at the age of 87.
Chief Falomo, the Loofosan of Ifosan in Ilesa, was widely regarded as a flamboyant, cosmopolitan socialite and a respected figure in business and elite social circles across Nigeria. He was a former Chairman of the prestigious Lagos Island Club, where he played a notable role in advancing the club’s legacy and prominence.
An accomplished advertisement icon and corporate leader, the late Chief Falomo served as Chairman of Reckitt Benckiser, contributing significantly to the growth and visibility of the brand in Nigeria. He was also the Principal Consultant of Olu Falomo & Associates, where his wealth of experience and strategic insight left a lasting impact on the advertising and consultancy landscape.
Chief Falomo’s death marks the end of an era, as tributes continue to pour in from associates, community leaders, and admirers who remember him for his style, influence, and commitment to excellence.
He is survived by family members and a wide network of friends and protégés across the country.
