The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of concentrating developmental projects in his hometown, Ede, at the expense of other communities across the state.
In a press statement dated February 12, 2026, and signed by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, the opposition party alleged that the current administration has failed to ensure even distribution of projects across Osun State.
The APC claimed that while many towns and villages in the state have seen little or no significant development, Ede has witnessed extensive infrastructural upgrades. According to the statement, major roads leading into the town have been dualised or are undergoing rapid construction, while several inner roads have also reportedly been tarred.
The party described the development pattern as unfair and warned that such an approach could set a “dangerous precedent” for future administrations if not addressed. It also questioned the role of members of the Osun State House of Assembly, asking whether lawmakers are adequately representing the interests of their constituencies.
In addition, the APC raised concerns over the relocation of the proposed Osun State International Airport project from Ido-Osun to Ede. The party referenced a December 6, 2024 letter from the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development directing the state government to suspend the foundation-laying ceremony and harmonise its plans with the Federal Government.
The letter, signed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Emmanuel D. Meribole, reportedly cited ongoing petitions and the need to ensure proper coordination, noting that the existing airstrip is a federal project captured in the 2024 Appropriation.
The APC alleged that despite the directive, work is ongoing at the new airport site in Ede. The party called on Governor Adeleke to clarify whether the federal government’s suspension order has been lifted and to respond to allegations regarding budgetary allocations for the project.
The statement urged the governor to address the concerns in order to reduce tension and speculation surrounding the airport project and the distribution of development across the state.
