‎Farmemoni Dry/Wet Season Flag-Off Holds in Abuja as Araokanmi Emerges AFAN Best Chairman in Southwest

‎The Renewed Hope FarmerMoni Dry/Wet Season Flag-Off was held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at the NICON Luxury Hotel, Abuja, under the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP 3.0).

‎The programme, themed “Grassroots Impact for National Growth,” is designed to support vulnerable and small-scale farmers across the country, with the goal of strengthening food security and promoting inclusive national development.

‎The event featured the distribution of agricultural inputs and other support packages for farmers participating in both the dry and wet farming seasons. Organisers said the initiative reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to empowering grassroots farmers and boosting agricultural productivity nationwide.

‎At the event, Alhaji Sulaiman Mufutau Araokanmi was honoured as the Best All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) Chairman in the Southwest region. The recognition was described as a reward for his outstanding leadership and contributions to farmers’ welfare.

‎Following his elevation to a federal position as Ex-Officio and his earlier election as National Organising Secretary in Abuja, Araokanmi officially handed over leadership of the AFAN Osun State chapter to his deputy, Elder Idowu Fadare, in line with the association’s constitution. The constitution stipulates that a deputy chairman should assume office if the chairman vacates the position before the next election.

‎Araokanmi was first elected Chairman of AFAN, Osun State Chapter, on November 29, 2018. During his tenure, he oversaw significant growth within the association. Under his leadership, AFAN in Osun State developed a befitting Farmers’ House built from foundation level, comprising a large hall and five well-furnished rooms. He also managed properties inherited from his predecessors and expanded the association’s influence.

‎With over 431,000 farmers under his coordination, Araokanmi was widely known for distributing farm inputs, chemicals, seeds, and seedlings to members to enhance productivity.

‎Stakeholders at the event described his emergence as Best Chairman in the Southwest as a well-deserved honour, reflecting his dedication to the growth and development of farmers in the region.
