Leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress in Ilesa East Local Government have affirmed former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Timothy Owoeye, as the party’s consensus candidate for the 2027 Osun State House of Assembly election.
The affirmation was made on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, during a proceeding organised by the Independent National Electoral Commission with party leaders, critical stakeholders in Ilesa East, and security operatives as preparations intensify ahead of the forthcoming 2027 Osun State House of Assembly election.
According to party stakeholders, the consensus arrangement had earlier been adopted by the party as the preferred option for selecting its flagbearer for the Ilesa East State Constituency seat.
The leaders stated that the process was conducted in line with the position of the party and reflected the collective interest of members across the local government.
Party faithful at the meeting reportedly expressed support for both the process and the outcome, while also reaffirming confidence in the leadership of the APC in Ilesa East Local Government.
The stakeholders expressed optimism that the adoption of a consensus candidate would further strengthen party unity and enhance the APC’s chances of victory in the 2027 Osun State House of Assembly election.
In his acceptance speech, Timothy Owoeye expressed profound appreciation to the people and constituents of Ilesa East State Constituency for what he described as the rare privilege and honour of allowing him to represent them for a sixth consecutive term in the Osun State House of Assembly.
He noted that the confidence reposed in him over the years remained a responsibility he would continue to cherish with humility, dedication, and unwavering commitment to the growth and development of the constituency.
The former Speaker also showered encomiums on respected national leaders of the party, including former Governor of Osun State, Bisi Akande, and the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, for their steadfast leadership, guidance, and continued commitment to the progress of the APC in Osun State and Nigeria at large.
He further reiterated the importance of total commitment and unity among party members toward securing victory for the APC in the forthcoming Osun State Governorship Election scheduled for August 15, while declaring strong support for the candidacy of Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO.
According to him, the success of the APC in the governorship election would pave the way for accelerated development, progressive governance, and renewed prosperity for the people of Osun State.
