Hon. Lawrence Ayeni Withdraws from APC House of Representatives Primaries

Hon. Lawrence Babatunde Ayeni, FMHR, has officially withdrawn from the forthcoming All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primaries scheduled for Saturday, May 16, 2026, citing the need to preserve party unity ahead of the Osun State governorship election

Ayeni announced his decision in a statement issued on Friday after what he described as extensive consultations with party leaders, elders, stakeholders, and supporters across the constituency.

According to him, the decision was taken in the interest of peace, harmony, and the collective strength of the APC, stressing that the success of the party and victory in the forthcoming governorship election must take priority over personal ambition.

He noted that leadership sometimes requires sacrifice for the greater good, adding that true leadership is not only about occupying political office but also about making difficult decisions capable of sustaining unity and progress within the party.

The former aspirant expressed appreciation to God, his family, loyal supporters, political associates, and members of the public who stood by him throughout his political consultations and aspirations.

Ayeni urged his supporters, particularly youths, women, elders, and political associates, to remain calm, peaceful, and united, assuring them of his continued commitment to the growth and development of the constituency and Osun State.

“This is not the end of the journey. Service to humanity remains my lifelong commitment,” he stated.

He also reaffirmed his loyalty to the ideals and vision of the APC while pledging continued support for the party’s success in future elections.

The APC House of Representatives primaries are expected to hold on Saturday, May 16, 2026, as part of preparations for the 2027 general elections.
