The Chairman of Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State, Maaroof Ogundipe, has distanced himself from a purported document circulating across social media platforms and political groups, allegedly bearing his signature in connection with APC membership registration figures and primary election results for aspirants seeking to represent Obokun State Constituency in the Osun State House of Assembly.
In a press statement issued on Thursday, May 21, 2026, the council chairman described the document as unauthorized and misleading, stressing that it neither emanated from his office nor received his approval in any form.
According to him, the document was neither prepared, endorsed, nor authorized by his office as Chairman of Obokun Local Government.
Maaroof Ogundipe further clarified that the signature attached to the circulated document was not his official signature, urging members of the public and supporters of the All Progressives Congress to disregard the document entirely.
The chairman emphasized that party registration records and primary election results remain strictly within the jurisdiction of the appropriate party structures and authorized electoral committees, noting that no individual outside the designated organs of the party possesses the authority to authenticate such records.
He subsequently appealed to APC faithful and residents of Obokun Local Government to remain calm and avoid being misled by false or politically motivated information capable of causing confusion within the party.
To further clarify the matter, the chairman attached a copy of his authentic official signature and name as contained in publicly available official documents.
The statement was signed by Maaroof Ogundipe, Chairman of Obokun Local Government Area, Osun State.
