Ilesa East LG Chairman Denies Defection Rumours, Reaffirms Commitment to APC

The Executive Chairman of Ilesa East Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Olanrewaju Balogun, has dismissed reports alleging that he has defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) or entered into a political alliance with the Accord Party and Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke.

Reacting to the rumours making the rounds in some political circles, Balogun described the claims as false, malicious, and a deliberate attempt to create division within the APC ahead of the forthcoming August election.

The council chairman stated unequivocally that he remains a loyal and committed member of the APC, emphasizing that he has no intention of abandoning the party that has shaped his political career and ideological convictions.

“I am a bona fide member of the All Progressives Congress, and I remain steadfast in my commitment to the party. The allegation that I have defected or aligned myself with the Accord Party and Governor Ademola Adeleke is completely false and unfounded,” Balogun said.

He stressed that his political philosophy is firmly rooted in progressive ideals, noting that he has consistently identified with and promoted the principles of the APC throughout his political journey.

“I am a progressive to the core. I can never depart from the progressive ideology which I have always believed in and promoted throughout my political career,” he added.

Balogun urged APC members, supporters, and residents of Ilesa East to disregard the rumours, describing them as the handiwork of political opponents seeking to sow discord within the party.

The chairman also expressed confidence in the APC’s chances in the forthcoming election, assuring party faithful that the party remains well-positioned for victory at the polls.

He declared his support for the APC candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen, whom he described as the most qualified individual to lead the people and advance the development agenda of the area.

“I have absolute confidence in our great party and our candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen. By the grace of God and with the support of the people, the APC will record a resounding victory in the August election,” he stated.

Calling for unity among party members across Ilesa East and Osun State, Balogun emphasized that cohesion and collective commitment remain essential to the party’s electoral success.

He further reiterated that no amount of misinformation, propaganda, or political speculation would distract him from working for the progress of the APC and ensuring its success in the upcoming election.

The clarification is expected to put to rest speculations surrounding the chairman’s political allegiance and reassure APC supporters of his unwavering loyalty to the party ahead of the crucial August poll.
