Ifelodun LG Debunks Rumoured Bandit Invasion in Ikirun, Urges Residents to Remain Calm

The Ifelodun Local Government Area of Osun State has dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging that bandits have invaded Ikirun and neighboring communities within the council area.

In a statement released by the Supervisory Councillor for Education and Information, Akorede Olawale, the local government described the report as false, misleading, and capable of creating unnecessary panic among residents.

The council stated that there is currently no verified intelligence or official report from any recognized security agency confirming the presence of bandits in Ikirun or any part of Ifelodun Local Government.

According to the statement, the Executive Chairman of the council, Hon. Hassan Kamorudeen Okanlawon, has maintained constant communication with security agencies operating within the area and has been assured that the security situation remains calm and under control.

The chairman urged residents to go about their lawful activities without fear while remaining vigilant and security-conscious. He also advised members of the public to disregard unverified information and rely solely on credible and official sources for security updates.

Residents were encouraged to cooperate with security agencies by promptly reporting any suspicious movements or activities within their communities.

Reaffirming its commitment to the protection of lives and property, the local government pledged continued collaboration with security operatives to sustain peace and security across all communities in the area.

The council further cautioned individuals against spreading unverified reports on social media, warning that such actions could undermine public peace and stability.
