The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council Committee in Ila Federal Constituency, Dr. Simeon Obawale, has expressed confidence that the constituency is fully mobilised and prepared to deliver overwhelming support for the APC in the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.
Dr. Obawale made this known during a federal constituency stakeholders' meeting held ahead of the inauguration of canvassers across Ila, Ifedayo and Boluwaduro local government areas, scheduled for Friday.
According to him, APC members and supporters across the constituency remain united, focused and determined to secure victory for the party's governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO).
He dismissed concerns over recent defections by some politicians to the Accord Party, describing the development as largely driven by personal interests and unmet expectations.
"Many of those who left the APC are already returning after discovering that the promises made to them could not be fulfilled," he said.
Dr. Obawale also criticised the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke over what he described as inadequate attention to security challenges facing residents of the state. He referenced the recent abduction of a resident in Ifedayo Local Government by suspected gunmen, arguing that the government's response had failed to demonstrate the seriousness required to tackle insecurity.
He maintained that no administration could claim commitment to the welfare of its citizens without prioritising the protection of lives and property.
Also speaking at the meeting, the Coordinator of Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Osun State, Oluomo Sunday Akere, accused the state government of failing to provide adequate support for security agencies.
Akere commended the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Osun State for procuring 90 patrol vehicles and more than 300 motorcycles for security agencies across the state, describing the initiative as a timely intervention to strengthen security operations.
He stated that the APC's campaign strategy would focus on issues affecting the people, the performance of the current administration and the alternative vision being offered by AMBO.
"Our campaign will be issue-based and people-oriented. We are committed to taking our message to every community across Ila Federal Constituency," Akere said.
Speaking on behalf of APC members in Ifedayo Local Government, Mr. Adedotun Olushola called for urgent measures to address growing security concerns in the area. He said many residents were increasingly fearful due to rising insecurity, warning that continued threats could force some people to abandon their communities.
The APC Chairman in Boluwaduro Local Government, Mr. Sikiru Adetunji, urged party members to intensify efforts at expanding the party's support base by engaging members of other political parties and encouraging them to join the APC.
Similarly, Hon. Bayo Alalade disclosed that ward meetings and grassroots mobilisation activities were ongoing across the constituency to ensure electoral success for the party.
In Ila Local Government, APC Chairman Alhaji Olanrewaju Abdullahi expressed optimism that the party would emerge victorious in the August governorship election and form the next government in the state.
He assured residents that an APC administration under AMBO would provide equitable governance and development across all parts of Osun State.
The chairmen of the three local governments in the federal constituency — Hon. Bayo Oyekanmi, Hon. Adeyemi Adebara and Hon. Idowu Abiodun — jointly highlighted efforts by local councils to deliver developmental projects and empowerment programmes at the grassroots level.
They also pointed to the recall and compensation of teachers, health workers, OYES personnel and other affected workers as evidence of their commitment to improving the welfare of residents.
The council chairmen further defended ALGON's security interventions, insisting that local governments had stepped in to fill perceived gaps in the state's security response.
Meanwhile, APC State Organising Secretary, Alhaji Rasheed, called on party members, security agencies and residents to remain vigilant ahead of the election. He alleged that there were concerns about possible attempts to disrupt the electoral process and stressed the importance of maintaining peace while safeguarding the integrity of the polls.
In his remarks, Hon. Azeez Musibau urged party members across the constituency to remain united, noting that cohesion and collective action would be critical to achieving victory on August 15.
The meeting concluded with party leaders, elected officials, campaign coordinators and stakeholders reaffirming their commitment to grassroots mobilisation and expressing confidence that Ila Federal Constituency would deliver substantial votes for the APC and its governorship candidate in the forthcoming election.
