Osun APC Inaugurates Over 12,000 Canvassers in Ijesa South, Signals Readiness for Osun Governorship Poll (PHOTOS)

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated more than 12,000 election canvassers across key local government areas in Ijesa South Federal Constituency as part of efforts to secure victory for its governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), in the August 15, 2026 Osun State governorship election.

The inauguration exercise, which took place across Atakumosa East, Atakumosa West, Ilesa East and Ilesa West local government areas, attracted large crowds of party members and supporters from communities including Osu, Ilerin, Ijemba, Odo-Ijesa, Iperindo and Ilesa.

Party leaders described the turnout as evidence of the APC's grassroots strength and growing momentum ahead of the election.

The exercise was led by the Director-General of the Osun APC Governorship Campaign Council, Hon. Oluwole Oke, alongside the council's Co-Chairman, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye. Other party leaders present included Hon. Sanya Omirin, member representing Ijesa South Federal Constituency; Chairman of the Ijesa South Campaign Committee, Hon. Femi Kujembola; Hon. Wale Adedoyin; Comrade Festus Oyebade Olowogboyega; Comrade Afolabi Abayomi; Hon. Babatunde Festus Komolafe; Alhaji Soliu Alubankudi; and Hon. Dr. Tunde Faleye.

Also in attendance were Hon. (Princess) Folusho Adekoya, Chairman of Atakumosa East Local Government Area; Hon. Olusola Fadare, LCDA Chairman; and Hon. Olanrewaju Balogun of Ilesa East.

According to figures released by the party, a total of 12,180 canvassers were inaugurated across the constituency. The breakdown shows 2,310 canvassers in Atakumosa East, 2,280 in Atakumosa West, 3,960 in Ilesa East and 3,630 in Ilesa West.

Speaking at the events, APC leaders emphasized the importance of grassroots mobilisation and voter engagement, describing canvassers as critical links between the party and the electorate.

Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye expressed confidence in the ability of the canvassers to effectively market the party's governorship candidate across their communities. He also expressed optimism about the APC's chances in the forthcoming election, claiming that political momentum was increasingly favouring the opposition party.

The inauguration activities culminated in a "Walk-to-Live" procession in Ilesa, which moved from Ilesa Grammar School through Okesa Roundabout and Isida before ending at Ita-Akogun.

Addressing party members, Hon. Oluwole Oke urged the canvassers to intensify grassroots engagement and expand the party's reach through sustained voter contact. He stressed that electoral success depends on effective organisation and strategic mobilisation at the community level.

Oke also criticised the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke, alleging that it had lost touch with grassroots supporters. He maintained that the APC's campaign strategy was focused on voter numbers, structure and measurable engagement rather than political rhetoric.

The party said the exercise demonstrated its organisational capacity and readiness for the governorship election, adding that its campaign would continue to focus on grassroots mobilisation and voter outreach across Osun State.

The August 15 governorship election is expected to be keenly contested, with political parties intensifying campaign activities across the state in the weeks leading up to the poll.
