All the pupils and teachers who were abducted in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State have been successfully rescued by Nigerian security agencies following a coordinated operation.
According to available information, the rescue mission was carried out without yielding to the kidnappers' demands. During the operation, eight suspected kidnappers were arrested and are currently in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) for further investigation and prosecution.
Security sources also disclosed that several other members of the criminal gang were neutralised during the operation.
It was further revealed that the abductors had demanded the release of one of their kingpins as a condition for freeing the victims. However, authorities rejected the demand, maintaining that the suspect is currently facing prosecution for alleged acts of terrorism and other serious crimes.
The successful rescue underscores the resolve of the nation's security agencies to combat kidnapping and terrorism without compromising the rule of law.
