‎Osun 2026: Oyebamiji Promises Massive Development for Ile-Ife as Ooni Endorses APC Candidate at Campaign Flag-off

‎The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the August 15, 2026 Osun State governorship election, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), has pledged to deliver widespread socioeconomic transformation across the state, with special attention to Ile-Ife and other major towns if elected governor.

‎Oyebamiji made the promise on Tuesday during the official flag-off of the APC governorship campaign in Ile-Ife, where he first paid a courtesy visit to the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, to seek royal blessings ahead of the statewide campaign.

‎Addressing supporters at the palace and later at the campaign venue, the APC flag bearer assured residents that his administration would focus on revitalising critical sectors of the state's economy and restoring Osun to a path of sustainable growth and development.

‎Describing Ile-Ife as the cradle of the Yoruba race, Oyebamiji said the ancient city would receive the attention it deserves through improved infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, security, commerce and industrial development.

‎"We are contesting this election with a genuine commitment to turn around the fortunes of Osun State. Our administration will prioritise infrastructure, security, education, agriculture, healthcare, commerce and industry, power and energy, water resources, youth development, sports, women empowerment and public engagement," he said.

‎The APC candidate identified several roads in Ile-Ife, including the Enuwa–Fajuyi Junction, Aderemi–Ondo Road and Enuwa–Sabo routes, as priority projects that would receive immediate attention upon assumption of office.

‎He also promised to rehabilitate public schools and healthcare facilities, improve workers' welfare, strengthen security and revive the agricultural sector through the introduction of hybrid seedlings, increased support for farmers and guaranteed markets for agricultural produce.

‎Oyebamiji further disclosed that his team had completed significant technical work on an Independent Power Plant initiative, which he said would be activated to improve electricity supply across the state if elected.

‎According to him, the project is designed to provide reliable power that will stimulate economic activities and improve the quality of life for residents.

‎Speaking during the royal reception, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, praised Oyebamiji's character and leadership qualities, describing him as an exemplary ambassador of the Yoruba values of integrity, humility, discipline and good character.

‎"Asiwaju Oyebamiji is Omoluabi to the core. He is a pride and blessing to Osun State. I commend his antecedents and pray that Almighty God grants him the desires of his heart," the monarch said.

‎Oyebamiji expressed appreciation to the Ooni for his fatherly support and prayers, noting that the visit marked the formal commencement of the APC's statewide campaign after an earlier visit to seek royal blessings before the party's political activities began.

‎The APC candidate also commended party supporters for what he described as the overwhelming turnout at the campaign flag-off, expressing confidence that the enthusiasm demonstrated by party faithful reflected the party's readiness for victory in the August 15 governorship election.

‎The event attracted prominent APC leaders, including the Osun State APC Chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal; the Director-General of the Osun APC Governorship Campaign Council, Hon. Oluwole Oke; the National Commissioner representing Osun State at the Federal Civil Service Commission, Dr. Festus Oyebade Olowogboyega, and other party stakeholders.

‎In their separate remarks, the party leaders urged residents of Osun State to support the APC candidate at the polls, expressing confidence that Oyebamiji possesses the vision and capacity to deliver purposeful governance.

‎The APC campaign flag-off in Ile-Ife witnessed a large turnout of party supporters, traditional leaders and residents, with colourful displays and enthusiastic participation marking the beginning of the party's campaign across the state.
