‎APC Alleges Party Member Killed by Suspected Accord Thugs in Ilesa, Demands Justice

‎The Osun State All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Campaign Council has condemned the killing of one of its members, Sogo Oladiran Alex, in Ilesa, alleging that he was murdered by suspected thugs affiliated with the Accord Party.

‎In a statement signed by the Head of the Media and Publicity Committee of the Osun APC Governorship Campaign Council, Engr. Oluremi Omowaiye, the party described the incident as another "bloody onslaught" against its supporters and expressed deep sorrow over the loss.

‎According to the APC, the deceased was allegedly identified as a party member before he was attacked and killed in Ilesa East Local Government Area. The party said the incident has heightened concerns over the safety of political participants ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

‎The Campaign Council claimed that the killing forms part of what it described as a pattern of politically motivated attacks on its members, alleging that more than 30 of its supporters have been affected by recent violence across the state.

‎The APC further alleged that the Accord Party has consistently denied allegations of violence despite what it described as available facts and evidence. The party maintained that the protection of lives and the conduct of peaceful democratic activities should remain the responsibility of all political stakeholders.

‎Calling for immediate action, the APC urged the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to launch a thorough investigation into the killing and ensure that those responsible are identified, arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

‎The Campaign Council reiterated its commitment to peaceful, free and fair elections, stating that its governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), has consistently maintained that political leadership should be attained through the ballot and not through violence or intimidation.

‎Despite the incident, the party said it would continue its campaign activities and pursue all lawful means to protect voters and uphold the integrity of the forthcoming governorship election.

‎The APC also extended its condolences to the family of Sogo Oladiran Alex, noting that he had recently defected from the Accord Party to the APC before his death.
