The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), has dismissed allegations by Governor Ademola Adeleke that the APC is planning to rig the August 15 governorship election, insisting that his victory will come through the votes of the people.
Oyebamiji made the declaration while speaking at the inauguration of the rehabilitation of the 82-kilometre Osogbo–Iwo–Ibadan Road. He described Governor Adeleke's allegations as a reflection of fear and apprehension over the outcome of the forthcoming election.
According to the APC candidate, the governor is already aware of his imminent defeat and has therefore resorted to what he described as misinformation to sway public opinion.
"Governor Adeleke is confused; that is why he is shouting about rigging. We are not like them in 2022 when they rigged the APC out through internal sabotage. This time, he should know that the people of Osun are the ones who will vote for APC and send him packing on August 15," Oyebamiji said.
He urged APC supporters to remain peaceful and avoid any form of violence, stressing that their focus should be on mobilising eligible voters across the state.
"Please don't fight anybody; let's concentrate on mobilising the people to come out and vote for APC. We have a president who loves development and once we get back to power, we will attract more infrastructure to Osun," he stated.
Oyebamiji also pledged to run a responsible and accountable administration if elected, promising prudent management of public resources and policies aimed at improving the welfare of the people.
"My administration will put an end to lack of seriousness in government. We will make every kobo we invest in the development of Osun worth it and transform the lives of our people," he added.
Expressing confidence in his campaign, the APC standard-bearer said the party had toured all local government areas in the state and reached agreements with residents on building an inclusive government.
"Adeleke is already reading defeat on the wall. We have been to all the local governments and we have entered into agreement with the people on inclusive government, and I am sure if the election holds today, I will win," Oyebamiji concluded.
Governor Ademola Adeleke had earlier alleged that the APC was planning to manipulate the August 15 governorship election, maintaining that he would emerge victorious if the poll is conducted in a free, fair and credible manner.
