Osun APC Warns Accord Against Misrepresenting Appeal Court Proceedings

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has cautioned members and supporters of the Accord Party against what it described as the spreading of false information concerning the recent Court of Appeal proceedings on the disputed administration of local government councils in the state.

The party, in a statement signed by its Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, said the proceedings held at the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal on Monday, September 28, 2026, did not amount to a determination of the substantive appeal in the case.

According to the APC, the consolidated appeals relating to the local government matter were before the court for proceedings, but the substantive appeal was not heard.

The party therefore urged the public to disregard reports and voice messages allegedly circulating on social media suggesting that the appeal had been dismissed or struck out.

However, reports from the proceedings indicate that some interlocutory appeals connected with the case were withdrawn and subsequently dismissed, while the substantive appeal challenging the Federal High Court judgment was not heard and remained pending.

The Court of Appeal subsequently adjourned the substantive matter, with the next hearing scheduled for November 11, 2026, according to the APC.

Olabisi described the alleged dissemination of misleading information about the proceedings as capable of creating unnecessary tension in the state, urging political actors to allow the judicial process to run its course.

The APC also called on relevant authorities to investigate what it described as deliberate misinformation if it is established that individuals knowingly circulated false accounts of the court proceedings.

The party maintained that it would continue to pursue the local government matter through constitutional and legal channels, stressing that its position remains subject to the outcome of the ongoing judicial process.

The dispute followed a June 2026 judgment of the Federal High Court in Osogbo, which held that the tenure of the APC local government chairmen and councillors elected in 2022 had expired in October 2025. The affected officials subsequently challenged the judgment at the Court of Appeal.
