Saturday the 26th of May, 2017 was a memorable day in Ilesa west Local Government. It was the that the members of the United Solidarity Forum (USF) a political group under the All Progressive Congress celebrated the one year anniversary of the existence of the group.
The program of the celebration included a special lecture delivered by Hon. Gboyega Oyewumi that centered on Political Leadership; wherein he highlighted the quality and characteristics of good political leaders.
Other speakers at the ceremony included Hon. Tajudeen Famuyide, Hon. Niran Fajuke, Hon. Ola Ashaolu, Hon. L. B. Ayeni, Hon. Femi Onigbogi and Mr. Ayeni Slade.
Hon. Tajudeen Famuyide emphasized on the weight and influence of the political group (USF) in Ilesa West Local Government. He pointed out that the group members consist of "who is who" in the LG as most of the past political office holders, past aspirants, and many current political office holders are members of the group. He therefore appealed to those that are ambitious and will like to rise fast politically in the LG to identify with the group. He sounded a note of warning that members of the group should bear it mind that they can't all hold political positions all at the same time; that it is turn by turn.
Hon. Niran Fajuke in his contribution want the gathering to bear it in mind that it is only God that gives out position to people but He may use political leaders as tools. He advised those that do not find themselves in the position of leaders to opt to being good and loyal followers. That " there is not better than having someone you can lean on reliably in politics.

Hon. L. B. Ayeni pointed out he only identified himself with the group because the group is under the All Progressive Congress (APC). He implored all members of the group to team up and work for the success of APC in 2018/19 coming elections. He reminded the members present that they are happily gathered for the celebration mainly because APC is in power.
Hon. Femi Onigbogi the Executive Secretary of Ilesa West LG where the group USF has its root centered his contribution on the issue raised by the guest speaker. That there must be a meeting point in the position of leaders and followers; that a situation where the leader is wrong and followers are right may occur.
It is such situation that account for spilt in political groups most of the time.
Hon. Ola Ashaolu, the Executive Secretary of Obokun Local Government attempted to answer Hon. Femi Onigbogi's poser. He concluded that man, whether leading or following is always imperfect; hence leaders like followers are all fallible. Only God is perfect. Hr shared his experience when he was growing up as a grassroot politician in Obokun.
The highpoint of the ceremony was the contribution from the founder of the group, Alhaj Azeez Issa Adesiji, the Osun state Vice Chairman of the ruling party, the All Progressive Congress (APC). he came in to deliver his speech with Kayode Falola's music, "ori lonise, eda layanmo.... Opekete ndagba". He opened his talk by debunking the allegation that members of the group USF consist of PDP members. Reacting to the issue raised on "Leadership and followership", he was of the position that a political leader is always right. That the followers owe their leaders absolute loyalty. He reminded the gathering that the occasion was to celebrate the success of the group in just one year of its creation. He thanked the members of the group for their unalloyed loyalty and perseverance. He therefore urged members of the group to be patient and watchful and prayerful; that those that are not in position today should wait for their turn with unshakable loyalty.
