MEET THE NEW PROVOST OF THE CATHEDRAL CHURCH OF ST JOHN, ILORO, ILESA AND HIS WIFE






The Very Revd. Iyiola Fadugba was born in Ilesa, Osun State on 8th September, 1965 to Pa Joseph Ilesanmi Fadugba of Iroye quarters, Ilesa and Mrs. Dorcas Olubanwo Fadugba from Odo Ijesa of blessed memory. He had his Primary School education at St. John's Anglican Primary School, Iloro, Ilesa (1970-1977) and attended Methodist High School, Cappa, Ilesa (1977-1982) for his Secondary School education. He did the Higher School Certificate at the prestigious Ilesa Grammar School, Ilesa and proceeded to the University of Ibadan for his First Degree in I985. He graduated with B. A. (Hons) Degree in Religious Studies in 1988. Between 1991 and 1993, he attended Immanuel College of Theology, Ibadan for his ordination course. Because of his love for sound theological education, Very Revd. Fadugba also pursued a post graduate degree at the Liverpool Hope University, Liverpool, UK, graduating with M. A in Theology and Religion Studies in 2004. He began his ministry as an ordained Priest in Egbado Diocese now Yewa Diocese on July 4, 1993 when he was ordained a Deacon. He was preferred and collated as Canon in Liverpool Cathedral, in the Diocese of Liverpool, UK in February 2003. He still has the privilege of being an Emeritus Canon of Liverpool Cathedral. He was preferred as an Archdeacon in August 2005 in the Diocese of Demo.


His experience transverse many dioceses both in the Church of Nigeria Communion and in the Church of England. He worked in the Diocese of Egbado/Yewa, Akure, Liverpool, Ilesa and Remo. He is proud to have started off his ministry as a Priest in Charge, not serving as a curate and he discharged his duty well under the supervision of his various Archdeacons. Against the practice, he was also inducted as a Priest-in-Charge straightaway as he arrived England in 1999. His family integrated with eas into the pure English community of Earslestown, Newton-le-Willows that their period of stay was extended and could have been extended further. He scored another first when he was made the Canon of the great Cathedral of Liverpool Diocese having found so much favouy with the Bishop of the Diocese of Liverpool. He was collated as a Canon in a very colourful ceremony and celebrated by Nigerians of diverse ethnic groups in the UK having achieved a feat reserved exclusively for the English clergy.

In Remo Diocese since he got there in August 2005, he proved his mettle as a dedicated Priest and seasoned administrator. He was the Administrative Assistant of the Bishop of Remo  from 2006 to January 2019. Clerical Secretary of the Diocese from 2006 to 2019, Lecturer, Demo Diocesan School of Theology from 2006 to 2019; Member of the Bishop's Examining Chaplains, from 2006 to 2019; Secretary to so many boards and committees, and Proprietor's eyes of Remo  Anglican College. He was also a member of Ogun State Christian Welfare Board between 2008 and 2011. He had the privilege of representing the Diocese of Remo as a delegate to the 2013 GAFCON II meeting in Nairobi Kenya. He has been on the Holy Pilgrimage to Jerusalem four times.


Mrs. Titilayo Fadugba, his able wife has accompanied him everywhere he worked to the glory of God ( but sometimes at great cost) as an able personal assistant whose salary and emoluments are beyond calculations (hence she can't be paid). She was born into a Christian home of Mr. Julius Olabode Abimbola from Iperindo and Mrs. Victoria Adenike Abimbola new Odeyemi from Ikoti (both of blessed memory). Titilayo on her part studied Education and French/English at Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo both at NCE and Degree levels. She has fulfilled all the requirements for the award of M.Ed. and would be awarded soon in England, she did various academic and practice programmes in nursery and children education and assisted in Lyme Community Primary School, Newton-le-Willows, UK where the children schooled. She teaches English in Demo Secondary School, the first coeducational school in West Africa. Their three young men are in higher institutions with the first one doing his post graduate studies at the University of Ibadan.

Very Revd. Fadugba is actively involved with the Old Students Association of Methodist High School, Ilesa, HSC 1985 set of Ilesa Grammar School and more passionately with the Student Christian Movement, University of Ibadan branch Alumni where he is the National Alumni President of the body which comprises of members all over the globe.

Very Revd. Iyiola Fadugba is a highly communicative individual with strong interpersonal skills and with ability to adapt to working in any environment.
