Osun 7th House of Assembly Members Remark As Osun Celebrates 28 Years of Creation

Osun State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye and other members of the Osun 7th Assembly have eulogised many developmental strides recorded in the State as  the State celebrated 28th anniversary of its creation on Tuesday 27th August, 2019. This was at a special plenary held to commemorate the occasion.

"I want my colleagues to look at what has happened since the creation of the State of Osun for the past 28 years. You are the accredited person that can speak on behalf of the people that elected you. I want to open the floor for all the members to contribute." The OSHA Speaker said.

Hon. Marouf Olanrewaju, Majority Leader and the honourable member representing Irewole/Isokan State Constituency, set the ball rolling as he pinpointed that it was the government of the APC that created a pace that is moving the State forward. "The Omoluabi ethos was reawakened during the time of the APC government. Looking at the economy of the State, it was in deplorable and pitiable state until the advent of the APC government. The APC government has been able to revive the State's economy and improve the educational standard of the State. The empowerment of Youth under the OYES programme has contributed tremendously to the development of the State.". He also use the opportunity to congratulate the governor Mr. Gboyega Oyetola and the Speaker.and appeal to the citizens of the state to continue to give support for the government and the ruling party.

Hon. Babatunde Komolafe, representing Atakumosa East and West in his contribution noted that the creation of the State has paved ways for the construction of many roads. "There is no way we can appreciate the development in the State since its creation without reckoning with the efforts of our founding fathers. I want to appreciate the efforts of Baba Akande for the construction of the State Secretariat that is today a place of pride...and I want to appreciate Ogbeni Aregbesola for bringing governance nearest to the people with the creation of the Local Council Development Areas (LCDA) thus bringing a lot of development to our rural areas."

Hon. Kunle Akande representing Olorunda State Constituency in his contribution noted that his constituency has benefited a lot. In the area of education.  "We have never had it so good, I remember for some time we could not boast of schools that are worthy of being called schools but during the advent of the APC administration we saw a lot of active infrastructural improvement in this area, more schools were built and enrollment increased. Some of those schools today can be compared to any schools of the so called advanced countries and we have started to see the seeds planted germinate as I want to site the example of the boy from Ataoja Government High School that came 3rd at the recently conducted JAMB examination which is a clear example of what to expect in about two years to come." He said.

"The government of APC did so much in the area of employment such that the National Bureau of Statistics rated Osun above any other State in Nigeria for having minimal unemployment. We have been able to create wealth particularly in my own constituency as a young growing adult, I never knew that a flat in Osogbo could be rented out for as much as N200,000, the highest when I was growing up was about N40,000 per annum. A clear indication that there is so much development in the last 28 years. Ditto security, we often boast that Osun State is the !most secured State in Nigeria until the recent cases of kidnapping, very many people of the State could move anywhere, anytime without any fear of being kidnapped or molested or attacked by hoodlums. This is attributable to the high leveled commitment of the government to providing vehicles and incentives to the security agents. For the proactive nature of our government with the Armoured Personnel Carriers." Hon. Akande concluded.

Hon. Gbenga Ogunkanmi representing Aiyedire State Constituency commended all the founding fathers and the civil servants (workers) for their efforts, dedication and sacrifices for the development of the state over the 28 years of its creation.

Hon. Wale Adedoyin representing Ilesa West State Constituency noted that all the past governors and the present governor must be appreciated. On rural development we must give kudos to Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola for tackling the problem of rural areas accessibility by opening up rural roads for the benefit of our farmers through ORAMP. He also identified stable population growth and the peaceful coexistence among the people as other good things that have happened to the State over thee 28 years of its existence.

In general, all the Honourable membranes of 7th Osun House of Assembly that rose to speak at the special plenary for the celebration of the 28th anniversary of the creation of the State all reviewed the developmental achievements of the state and agreed that the founding fathers and all past governors have contributed immensely to the noticeable developments in the State and the incumbent governor and the Speaker of the House and all the good people of the state deserve to be congratulated while appealing to the citizens of the state to continue to give their support to the government.
