2022 Iwude Ijesa Festival: Week-long activities start with Jumat Service

The Iwude Ijesa festival celebrated annually in Ilesa, Osun State, Nigeria has nothing to do with rituals, fetishisms and idolism as it usually starts with special jumat Service on Friday and a church service on Sunday which is usually rotated annually among the various mosques and churches in  to precede the programs of the week-long celebration that reaches its climax in grand finale on the last Saturday before Christmas.

The festival is a cultural celebration to showcase the historical, cultural and traditional potential of Ijesa people as a collective entity.

Activities of the weeklong celebration of 2022 edition of the festival started Friday,  Friday 16th December, 2022 with a Special Jumat service and prayer at the Ayegbaju Central Mosque, Ayegbaju Ijesa.

The occasion provided an opportunity to offer prayers in appreciation to Allah for sparing the people's lives despite the uncertainties of everyday life, for the unprecedented achievements by the people over the year that passed while highlighting special prayer requests for Ijesaland to continue to exist as a united and formidable entity.

Interestingly, two members of the Ijesa people that are of Republic of Benin origin, Alhadji G. Ibouraïma and Mr. Fatoyinbo Otekpola Fatiou participated at the Jumat service.

The laid down activities shall continue with a Church Thanksgiving Service at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Ilase-Ijesa.

Le festival Iwude Ijesa célébré chaque année à Ilesa, dans l'État d'Osun, au Nigéria, n'a rien à voir avec les rituels, les fétichismes et l'idolisme, car il commence généralement par un service spécial de jumat le vendredi et un service religieux le dimanche, qui est généralement alterné chaque année entre les différentes mosquées et églises. pour précéder les programmes de la célébration d'une semaine qui atteint son apogée en grande finale le dernier samedi avant Noël. Le festival est une célébration culturelle pour mettre en valeur l'historique, potentiel culturel et traditionnel du peuple Ijesa en tant qu'entité collective. 

Les activités de la célébration d'une semaine de l'édition 2022 du festival ont commencé le vendredi 16 décembre 2022 avec un service Jumat spécial et une prière à la mosquée centrale d'Ayegbaju, Ayegbaju Ijesa.

L'occasion a été l'occasion d'offrir des prières en remerciement à Allah pour avoir épargné la vie des gens malgré les incertitudes de la vie quotidienne, pour les réalisations sans précédent du peuple au cours de l'année qui s'est écoulée tout en soulignant les demandes de prière spéciales pour qu'Ijesaland continue d'exister en tant qu'unité unie. et entité redoutable.

Fait intéressant, deux membres du peuple Ijesa originaires de la République du Bénin, Alhadji G. Ibouraïma et M. Fatoyinbo Otekpola Fatiou ont participé au service de Jumat. Les activités prévues se poursuivront avec un service d'action de grâce à l'église anglicane St. Paul, Ilase-Ijesa.
