MASSIVE TRANSFER OF DPOs: *Why CP Should Exercise Caution - Osun APC

Contrary to the denial of the Osun State Police Command that it is not contemplating the massive transfer of all the District Police Officers (DPOs) under its command, information has revealed that the command is not backing down on the exercise.

It was authoritatively learnt in Osogbo, the state capital yesterday that the leadership of the police command has gone ahead with the massive transfer of the DPOs in order to bring on board compromised and pliable ones who are willing instruments to clamp down on the opposition in the state.

It would be recalled that a security alarm was sounded by the APC on Sunday whereby it was alleged that the leadership of the police in the state has been working in cahoots with Governor Ademola Adeleke and the leadership of the PDP with a view to clamping down on the APC members to the detriment of the opposition during the February general elections.

It was gathered that the resolution of a domineering female member of the Adeleke family and the police leadership was that the uncooperative DPOs should be instantly replaced with those who are ready to act in tandem with the dictates of the PDP.

It would be recalled that the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, Mrs Yemisi Opalola, stoutly defended her command yesterday on a radio programme monitored in Osogbo that there was no element of truth in the allegation of the massive transfer of the DPOs saga in the state.

In his comment on the development, the Osun State APC Acting Chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, cautioned the state Police Commissioner, Mr Patrick Kehinde Longe, to be circumspect on the issue at stake as its repercussion might taint the image of the police under his watch in the state in particular and the nation in general.

Lawal said: "Mr Longe should see himself as a father to all the political parties in the state which should be related with on equal basis."

"By the time that a father is having a favourite among his children and he is flaunting same, it means there's a monumental problem in such a family to the extent that trust, love and confidence would take a flight from the family.

"The Inspector-General of Police, Mr Usman Alkali Baba, should prevail on the Osun CP on the need for him to discharge his statutory policing duties without fear or favour devoid of partiality and prejudice.

"We would like to state here unequivocally that we won't fold our arms and watch our  inalienable constitutional  right of belonging to a political party of our choice being needlessly trampled upon in a democratic dispensation.

"It is absurd, unthinkable and illogical for the PDP to be threatening to chase all the leaders and members of the APC out of Osun State before the general elections.

"We co-own Osun State which explains in a simple language that our political co-existence is not negotiable as the PDP elements performed their opposition roles unhindered without molestation by us for twelve solid years.

"Whoever is contemplating or hatching the clamp down of the APC in order to favour the PDP at the incoming polls should have a rethink as whatever affects the part will not likely spare the whole", the acting Osun State APC chairman warned."
