UNIILESA: Ijesaland Stakeholders Encounter Members of UniIlesa Establishment Review Adhoc Committee

Stakeholders in Ijesaland have encountered the Adhoc Committee members on the University of Ilesa Establishment Review Committee.


Friday, 20th January, 2023, the Chairman of the Adhoc Committee Prof Taiwo Asaolu, in pursuant  to review the establishment of the newly Nigeria University Commission's (NUC) approved University of Ilesa led members of the Committee on a visit to the paramount ruler of Ijesaland, Oba (Dr.)/Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran in his palace to receive his blessing.


Speaking at the place where the Committee members were received by a strong member of Ijesa Stakeholders that included traditional rulers, chiefs (men and women) and representatives of Ijesa leaders, Prof. Asaolu remarked that the committee members came to have first hand contact with the university community and deemed it fit to pay homage to the paramount ruler of Ijesaland for his blessing.




The opinion leaders through the Owaloko of Iloko-Ijesa, Oba Akeem Olusayo Ogungbangbe and Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi, the Asiwaju of Ijesaland advised the committee members on the need for the new university to commence operation in earnest so as to have intake at the 2023/24 academy year.


Oba Akeem Ogungbangbe in his remarks while welcoming the committee members, gave the assurance that Ijesa Stakeholders are ready to give all necessary supports for the nourishment of the university in collaboration with the Osun state government.





Asiwaju of Ijesaland, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi on his part elaborated on the content of the memorandum that he authored which was earlier submitted on behalf of Ijesaland University host community to the Government’s Ad Hoc Committee on the University of Ilesa wherein he gave analysis on the craving of Ijesa people to achieve the feat of upgrading of the defunct Osun State College of Education, Ilesa to a University status, extolling the virtues of the people he revisited the measures all ready taken to assure the sustainability of the new University.





His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr) Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran while blessing the Committee wished them a successful and speedy completion of their assignment for the University of Ilesa to commence operation in earnest.


One would recall that Senator recently inaugurated an ad hoc committee to review and assess the sources of funds for both capital and recurrent expenditure for the take-off of the university of Ilesa, saying the last administration avoided due diligence and comprehensive project report.


The Committee members are: Prof. Oyesoji Aremu, Prof. Lukeman Jumoda, Prof. David Oladeji, Prof. Dayo Akintayo, Prof. (Mrs) Adefunke, Dr. Mutalib Akanmu, Hon. Bamidele Salam, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education and the Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Justice.



The traditional rulers present at the occasion included the Owa-Omiran of Esa-Oke, Oba Adeyemi Adediran, Owaloko of Iloko-ijesa, Oba Akeem Ogungbamgbe and the Alagbadae of Agbadae, Oba Olanrewaju Olaosebikan.





The following Ijesa High chiefs were also in attendance; High Chief Busuyi Gbadamosi.the  Oba Odo of Ilesa, High Chief Bola Orolugbagbe the Odole of Ilesa, High Chief Ojo the Lejoka of Ijoka, High Chief Leekan Salami Folorunso the Loro of Ilesa, High Chief Oluwagbenga Fadunsin Igbaroola the Arapate of Ilesa, High Chief Olubosoye Onigbogi the Lejofi of Ijofi and the High Chief Akinwande Akinola the Sawe of Ilesa the women chiefs in attendance were Yeye Lejoka, Yeye Segbua, Yeye Loro and Yeye Lejofi.


Ijesa leaders that accompanied Asiwaju Fasuyi included Chief Afolabi Igbaroola and Mr Wale Idowu.
