The Osun State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye, today commenced the distribution of financial grants to empower at least 100 women and petty traders across Ijoka community of Ilesa East local government, Osun State.
The support, which is his initiative is being coordinated by Mr. J. Kehinde Owopetu an expert on cooperative society for market traders and the initiative is a replica of Cooperative system where each of the beneficiaries will receive N30,000 to support their trades to replace the "Breasts on Lantern"- " Gbomu le Lantern" agonies of women borrowers of microcredit from microfinance bank.
The procedure for the disbursement has since commenced after a meeting at the Lejoka quarters.
Recall that when the Speaker visited the community last Sunday, he promised to assist the women. He has successfully initiated similar program for the women of Otunrarebi, Irojo and Oke-Aanu, Odiolowo communities.
