God Appoints Leaders According to His Divine Purpose Says Anglican Bishop as Iyabo Fagbulu and Kunle Odeyemi Become Iya Ijo and Balogun Ijo (VIDEOS/PHOTOS)

All authorities that exist have been established by God who gives it to whomever He will and sets over it the lowest of men. For there is no authority except from God whose purposes are directed by His goodness. He alone is omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient. He has no equal and rules in love, mercy, and justice and out of that character, God appoints leaders according to His divine purposes.

Those were the words of Bishop of the Diocese of Ilesa, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Rt. Revd. Prof. Oladapo Folorunso Asaju, during his sermon at the Cathedral Church of St. John, Iloro Ilesa where he installed Chief Dr. Mrs Comfort Fehintola Iyabo Fagbulu as Iya ijo and Elder Olakunle Akanni Odeyemi as Balogun Ijo.

Installing the duo at the well attended ceremony on Sunday 30th of July, 2023, which turned out to be a celebration galore and an assembly of important dignitaries and some of the top hierarchy of Osun State All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders at the national and state levels, Bishop Asaju attributed their selection to divine inspiration.

Bishop Asaju while referring to the installation of Saul as king of Israel when the people asked for a king with the wrong motives, but the monarchy was ultimately God's gift to His people, appreciated the intimidating profile of Chief Dr. Mrs Iyabo Fagbulu as he equally likened Elder Kunle Odeyemi to a Samuel that has crowned many kings.

While supporting chieftaincy title in the church, the bishop drew examples from the recent installation of King Charles of England which was officiated by the archbishop of Canterbury, the highest Church of England cleric in the country.

Bishop Asaju highlighted the functions of the new chiefs as he described the Iya Ijo position as a Deborah, an adviser of the church in women affairs that should seek to lift and see to the welfare of the young ones, visit the aged ones, mobilize  resources for the development of the church among others. Also as the Balogun Ijo is translated to Yoruba "leader of war".that is charged with the security of the church and all its members, he should strife to protect the interest of the people and fight for justice as he equally mobilizes for resources to move the church forward and attend to the well being of members.

Looking into profiles of the newly installed chiefs, he identified their love for God through their services to humanity and church activities that have surely been noted to warrant their new titles. While praying for wisdom for the chiefs he described them as resourceful leaders both in their chosen professions and services to God.
