Publish The Profiles Of The Commissioner-nominees_____Osun APC Tasks State House of Assembly

Following Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke's transmission of the names of the commissioner-nominees to the State  House of Assembly after seven months of his inauguration, the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has tasked the state assembly to publish the profile of each of the commissioner-nominees for their assessment by members of the public.

The Osun State chairman of the APC in his comment contained in a statement issued by the party's Director of Media and Information, Chief Kola Olabisi, in Osogbo, the state capital today, stated that it is a norm for the house to make public the profiles of their would-be commissioners.

Lawal explained that now that the names of the commissioner-nominees have been transmitted to the House of Assembly by the governor, the next thing is to get same published in order for the public to know their worth.

He stated that though it is the prerogative of the governor to choose those who will constitute his cabinet but the people too deserve to know them deeply as they are to be public officers who would be paid through the tax payers.

Lawal disclosed that by this time in the history of the nation's democratic history that had its root in 1999, it is ideal that the mode of the adopted government should be done in the way and manner that won't be different from where it was copied from in the United States of America.

In Lawal's words: "Now that the governor and the PDP have stated that their commissioner-nominees are those who have been making their marks in their chosen professions and endeavours, it will be proper for the House of Assembly to publish their profiles for us to know the level of their capability.

"It would be recalled that the immediate-past administration in the state published the profiles of its commissioner-nominees for the public to see.

"It won't take anything away from the government of Adeleke and the House of Assembly to make the profiles of the commissioner-nominees public.

"We want to know their level of education and the experience they had garnered over the years as professionals in their various fields.

"This request is within the purview of the statutory  provision  of the Freedom of Information Act 2011 which guarantees right to request information.

"The Freedom of Information Act 2011 gives everyone the right to request information whether or not contained in any written form, which is in the custody or possession of any public official, agency or institution howsoever described", Lawal hinted."
