NABTEB APPROVES 250 IJESA SCHOLARS FOR FSTC ILESA....Read full details of successful Ijesa students

The Apex National Examination Body, National Business And Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) has finally given its approval at its just concluded meeting in Benin, Edo State yesterday, 16th August 2023 for 250 Scholars of Ijesa origin to be admitted into Federal Science and Technical College (FSTC), Ilesa for the Academic session starting next month, September 2023.

A total of 630 Ijesa Candidates sat for the entrance examination on Saturday, 15th July 2023.

291 Candidates that passed the entrance exams were invited for an interview on Tuesday, 1st August 2023.

Finally, a total of 250 Candidates of Ijesa origin were selected and admitted based on the combination of the following factors pursued by ICDA, namely:

1. Academic Performance: All the 250 Candidates selected passed the entrance examination conducted on Saturday, 15th July 2023.

2. Unity & Development of Ijesaland:

It was observed right from the beginning of the admission exercise that Candidates enrolments from the four local governments of Atakunmosa West; Atakunmosa East; Obokun; and Oriade were lower when compared with the size of enrolment from Ilesa West and Ilesa East LGAs. This was in spite of equal and aggressive sensitisation and mobilisation done across the six LGAs in Ijesaland through radio jingles and personal telephone calls to almost all our Royal Fathers in Ijesaland.

So, what the FSTC Scholarship Management Committee (FSMC) of ICDA did in order to accommodate more Candidates from these four LGAs was to recommend for admission the entire 100% of Candidates from Atakunmosa West, Atakunmosa East, Obokun, and Oriade, who already passed the entrance examination, in order to make for fair representation and even development of Ijesaland. We are happy to report that this recommendation is upheld.

3. Ijesa Indigeneship Attestation:

A major challenge we encountered in this admission process was how to weed off non-ijesa residents who have lived so long in Ijesaland and who desire to take advantage of the scholarship opportunity. An Indigeneship Attestation form was designed by ICDA and was completed by all selected students and which was further verified with the wards Chiefs and subsequently scrutinised with the Traditional Rulers in each community with a written attestation obtained.

It must be reported that the combined thorough screening efforts by both the ICDA team and our revered Traditional Rulers further exposed some candidates who are not of Ijesa origin, a situation that accounted for the difference in the number of candidates that passed the entrance examination and the actual number of candidates finally admitted in the four LGAs of Atakunmosa West, Atakunmosa East, Obokun, and Oriade.

Please find attached the breakdown of successful 250 Scholars who will be enjoying the scholarship provided by Ijesa Women and Men under the auspices of Ijesa Community Development Assembly (ICDA) in the next three years commencing from September 2023 and terminating in July 2026.

May the Almighty God continue to bless and prosper all Sponsors.

And may the good Lord make this generation of scholarship beneficiaries become Champions of Sustainable Development in Ijesaland tomorrow!

Obokun a tunbo ma gbe a, O!
