OSUN: Former Gov. Aspirants, Ex-Nat’l Deputy Chair, Speaker’s CoS Quit PDP as Thousands Prominent Members Join APC

In a hot blow to the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, a wave of defections has occurred, with key figures crossing over to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Among the prominent defectors are former governorship aspirants Prince Dotun Babayemi and Akin Ogunbiyi, as well as former National Deputy Chairman of the PDP, Shuaib Oyedokun, and Faruq Abbas, the Chief of Staff to the Osun House of Assembly Speaker.

The programme, which saw over 100,000 PDP members switching allegiance, took place at the APC Party Secretariat in Ogo Oluwa. Notable figures present to welcome the defectors included His Excellency Adegboyega Oyetola, Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, and Dr. Ajibola Basiru, the National Secretary of the APC and other APC political gladiators in Osun.

Explaining their decision to defect to the correspondent of Naijinfo, the former PDP members cited dissatisfaction with the management of the party under Ademola Adeleke's leadership. They criticized the PDP for its alleged lack of proper member management and vision for the state, stating that their move to the APC represents a shift towards a more promising political direction.
