60-Year-Old Retired Headmistress Who Died On Her Retirement Ceremony Day Laid To Rest in Ilesa






A 60-year-old woman, Dupe Omowumi Bello, who died on her retirement ceremony day, has been buried. 


The deceased, the last headmistress of the School for the Physically Challenged, Enu Odi, Ilesa in Osun State hailed from Ejemu's compound, Iperin, Ila Orangun.

She slumped and died just when she was called to the High Table at her retirement ceremony.



She was said to have no sign of any illness as she danced into the venue hall in procession file with drummers singing.


Circumstances surrounding the death of the woman born on 21st April, 1965 at Wesley Hospital llesa. Osun State ( then Oyo State) were unclear.


She died on Wednesday 9th of April.


A sympathizer who talked to KAKAKIOODUA said "It is just the will of God; although it’s devastating and shocking,” 


Late Dupe Omowumi Bello was born to the family of late Joseph Iyanda Abidoye and princess Comfort Adenihun Abidoye 


She went to St. Matthew Anglican Primary School, Isedo, lla Orangun. For her Primary Education.


She àttended the popular Ila Grammar School, Igbo lleke, Ila Orangun. Osun State for her Secondary School education from 1979 to 1983.


She proceeded to Igosun Teachers College, lgosun, Kwara State. For he Grade ll Certificate.


She married to Mr Tajudeen Bello in 1988 and decided to settle down at llesa with her husband.


She started working as a teacher with the Osun State Government in 1990.


She moved further to obtain her NCE at Osun State College of Education llesa, Osun State, in 1996.



She attended Federal College of Education (Special) Oyo in 2011.


She obtained her bachelor's Degree in Education (BA. Edu) in 2023.


She was promoted to be the Head Mistress of the Special School, Ilesa, in 2024 and retired in March 2025.


She was a devoted Christian who served the Lord with all her strength and continued in the service of the Lord with zeal by starting a church. 


She is survived by children and grandchildren.





Her remains was buried at her residence at Ilo Ajegunle-Ijesa after a solemn Christian service on Saturday 26th April, 2025.
