The Owa Obokun and Paramount of Ijesaland, Owa Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, urges the people of Ijesaland to take advantage of the Continuous Voters Registration to exercise their voting rights in the upcoming governorship election in Osun State.
Owa Clement Adesuyi Haastrup gave the charge when the INEC's Resident Electoral Commissioner in Osun State, Dr Mutiu Agboke paid him a courtesy call in his palace.
The Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland attributed the previous electoral violence in the country to rigging and other electoral malpractices, and cautioned the electoral body to desist from such acts to ensure free, fair and credible elections.
According to the Owa Obokun, the sole method to encourage large-scale voter registration is to make their votes count.
Earlier in his remark, the Osun State Resident Electoral Commissioner , Dr Mutiu Agboke stated that over three hundred thousand elegible voters have been registered by the commission.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner stressed that the visit was crucial to the commission's mobilization campaign due to the strong bond between the traditional ruler and his subjects.
