Kujelanyo Youth Descendants' Union (KYDU), of Ikire, Irewole local government, Osun State, in conjunction with the Education Support Initiative of a non-political philanthropist of note, Chief Ajanaku Wasiu (Omogbede-Akire) on Sunday at the Akire Palace paid the fees of fifty (50) students for the 2026 May/June West African Senior School Certificate Examination.
The beneficiaries drawn from Public and Private Secondary Schools also accompanied by their parents gathered at a well-attended ceremony that was held inside the Palace Hall where Certificates of Sponsorship, serving as proofs that their 2026 WAEC Fees are fully covered by the Initiative were handed out to them.
The Guest Speaker of the occasion, Comr. Tolani Mutiu Tijani (TECHIE) founder, Target Tutorials Centre, Ikire in his Keynote Lecture with the theme “Education as a Tool for Community Empowerment” noted that the KYDU/Chief Ajanaku Wasiu Initiative will obviously reduce the financial pressure on the students, their parents and guardians as he advised the beneficiaries to as well focus on preparation for the Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination as their ultimate focus is to get University education.
"Education is not a scam. You all need to prepare for self development. It's education that can make you stand out... Education is to create enabling environment and not only for the purpose of white-collar employment... Don't read only because you want to pass WAEC.... Prepare yourself for JAMB.. I appeal to all parents and guardians to work hard to support their wards education and to the students to shun anti-social behaviors which can adversely affect their aspirations." He lectured
Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman KYDU Education Committee, Prince Oyebami Akinropo remarked that Education is the greatest investment any society can make in its people. "With the KYDU Education Support Programme, we affirm our belief that no child should be denied access to quality education because of circumstances beyond their control." He said
While highlighting on the 2026 WAEC fees payment, Prince Akinropo remarked that it is aimed at bridging educational gaps, to provide support for students who are in need, and to inspire excellence among the young ones.
"It is a vision rooted in the understanding that the future of our communities, our state, and indeed our nation depends on the intellectual capacity, discipline, and creativity of our youth." He said as he charged the beneficiaries take full advantage of the opportunity.

The royal father of the day, Oba Olatunde Falabi Lambeloye III, Akire of Ikire Kingdom appreciated the Education Support Initiative of KYDU as he showered encomiums on CHIEF AJANAKU WASIU (OMOGBEDE-AKIRE), while noting that he has distinguished himself.
In their various good will messages distinguished guests such as Barr Akinsumbo Oluyeye appreciated the donor for his interest in Ikire future by considering human development in the area of education and solicited for the sustainability of the program.
Chief Banji Ojeleye, Education committee of the palace advised the students to be Computer literate and implored the KYDU members to monitor the students so that the money will be used for the purpose
The Chairperson of All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS) in Ikire, Mrs Oyelade attested that the selected beneficiaries are well instructed on their preparations for the forthcoming WAEC examination as she encouraged them to work harder.
Others that delivered goodwill messages included High Chief Muritala Falana, Are Omo-Oba Akire, who delved into the history of the Ikire royal lineages; Cmrd Sola Adegboyega of the Vice President 1 of Ikire Progressive Union who appreciated the Intervention of IPU on Security and Education as he showered encomium on Omogbede-Akire donor and the KYDU initiation and High Chief Akinade Ajibade Babatunde, Oosa-Akire who asserted that education is the key to open doors and Ikire is benefitting greatly.
