Osun 2026: We'll develop tourism, address infra deficits, Oyebamiji assures Ile-Ife, Modakeke residents ...As party's stalwarts, loyalists throw weight behind his candidature

A leading aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly called AMBO, on Sunday said if elected Governor of Osun, his administration would unlock embedded potential in the people for greater productivity and for the advancement of the state.

Oyebamiji assured the people of the state, particularly indigenes and residents of Modakeke in Ife-East Local Government Area Office, Ife-Central Local Government and Ife-East Local Government, in Ife Federal Constituency, of his preparedness to redefine governance by stimulating and activating grassroots development through massive infrastructural development and tourism.

This is even as the chieftains and members of the party declared their solidarity and endorsement of Oyebamiji's candidature in Ife Federal Constituency.

Oyebamiji noted that his administration would give adequate attention to critical sectors for repositioning, explaining that no efforts would be spared to give Osun a facelift of development when chosen.

"There is no doubting the fact that our people in Osun particularly Ife Federal Constituency are faced with socioeconomic and infrastructural deficits despite the humongous resources at the government's disposal. This and many more would be sincerely and genuinely addressed if elected Governor come 2026.

"Ile-Ife, the cradle of the Yoruba people, attracts tourists who are fascinated by cultural events, antique sites and museums in the historical town.

"The latest World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) report projects that Nigeria’s tourism sector will contribute N11.2 trillion ($7.5 billion) to the country’s GDP in 2025, marking an increase from N10.9 trillion recorded in 2024. If we properly harness our tourism potentials in Osun, we can take a big chunk from this revenue given the cultural and historical primacy of this state.

"If you support AMBO to become governor in 2026, our government will create an enabling environment for tourism to thrive by investing in Infrastructure and security.

"Ile-Ife would not attract the deserving tourists if the Infrastructure and security are lacking. Inner roads in Ile-Ife will be rehabilitated.

In their separate remarks, APC overall leader in Modakeke, Ife-East Area Office, Chief Abdul-Wahab Adetunji (Olowo-Asalu), APC Chairman, Ife Central Local Government, Comrade Goke Aramide, a former Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Fatai Adesina Kolawole, former member House of Representatives and Director General, Omisore Campaign Organization under Social Democratic Party, SDP in the 2018 governorship election, Hon. Bade Falade, Hon. Segun Ayodele Fanibe, Hon. Sakariyahu Olawale Amusan, Professor Taiwo Olaiya, Sooko Temade Elugbaju among others, expressed the readiness of leaders and members of the party to support Oyebamiji's candidature and ensure his victory at the primary and main governorship election come 2026.
