The Osun State chapter of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has announced a three-day warning strike to protest the non-payment of entitlements and allowances owed its members
In a statement issued on Wednesday in Osogbo by its chairman, Idirs Adeniran, the union listed unresolved grievances, including the long-standing non-payment of imprest and statutory allowances since 2015, unaddressed staff promotions, and outstanding benefits for 2024 and 2025.
JUSUN urged the Judiciary Service Commission (JSC) to act swiftly to restore industrial harmony, boost productivity, and protect the integrity of the judiciary in the state.
“Resuming the suspended strike may be the only way to push for meaningful dialogue, as the state government has yet to implement the memorandum of agreement (MoA) signed earlier. We call on all stakeholders in the judiciary to rally behind JUSUN in this fight for justice and swift action,” the statement read.
The union stressed that the judiciary, regarded as “the last hope of the common man,” cannot effectively function without well-motivated staff and sufficient resources.
Among its demands are:
Implementation of pending staff promotions
Restoration of allowance payments and training sponsorship
Provision of official and utility vehicles for service delivery
Implementation of the new ₦70,000 minimum wage with arrears
A 25/35% salary increase alongside five months’ wage award and arrears.
Recall that the Osun JUSUN chapter suspended its earlier strike and returned to work on June 4 after meetings with the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, and other stakeholders.
However, the union said the state government’s refusal to honour the MoA has left it with no alternative but to resume industrial action.
