‎ A ROCK AT 70: Alagba Wale Idowu writes on the essence of Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi's life, leadership, and contributions to Ijesaland... his impact, philanthropy, and legacy

‎Merit Applause To An Eagle Of All Seasons.

‎Our maiden encounter was at Ibadan Recreation Club in 2005 during his inauguration as the club’s President.

‎My attendance of the event was at the instance of his junior brother, Late Dejo Fasuyi who was then the President of Ijesa Sports Club while I served as Director of Socials and Publicity.

‎Some of the few things that caught my fancy on that night was the security architecture around the Club premises, the social ambience and the huge turnout of guests, all of which define Asiwaju of Ijesa land as a perfectionist, mobilizer, task master, result oriented and a resourceful manager.

‎Ever since becoming the Asiwaju of Ijesa land in 2016, his appearance at any social function commands dignifying respectability that regales the mind.

‎Yinka, the prophetic young millionaire is a philanthropist per excellence, an extraordinary Ijesa bridge builder who has the directory of the over one hundred Ijesa Kings and Chiefs, and could reel out their full names and their corresponding titles off hand.

‎He remains a spectacular Ijesa citizen who has walked the talk of Community development projects with precise budget in the most transparent manner such that he is today defined by landmark accomplishments that are not limited to the restoration of electric power to Ijesa land after a face-off with the IBEDC in 2019.

‎He had earlier commenced and sustained the payments of the WAEC fees for the final year Senior secondary students of Ijesa origin.

‎It was Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi who not only conceived the Owa Obokun Palace and the monumental Geriatric Center but galvanized and equalized Ijesa interest within and in the Diaspora. He also motivated the Architects and Engineers for the design, construction and supervision of the two projects at his own cost.

‎It is on record that the delivery of the magnificent Ijesa land Geriatric Center motivated the approval of the University of Ilesa by the then Governor of Osun State, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyejola.

‎Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi had earlier mobilized Ijesa Obas and Leaders to endorse the clamour for the University in an advertorial he singlehandedly sponsored in a national newspaper.

‎Latching on an information relating to Federal Science and Technical College skill acquisition training opportunities, he brought the news to our consciousness and guided the process that led to the sponsorship of 250 pioneering Ijesa scholars at the College in 2023.

‎Still not done with youth advancement, he crisscrossed Ibadan and Abuja to actualize the admission of 100 Ijesa youths for Agricultural training at the Leventis Foundation which held their maiden graduation on December 12, 2024.

‎Ijesa youth empowerment paradigm recorded another feat as Asiwaju Fasuyi facilitated the deal with RLG Adulawo which gave birth to the sponsorship of the training of another 100 candidates in Computer hardware assemblage and repairs.

‎For ages to come Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi will remain the reference point and the face of a new Ijesa territorial structure for his emotional and passionate commitment to the advancement of Ijesaland.

‎Here’s thumbing up for 70 years of merit Applause from admirers of Asiwaju, the 3000 beneficiaries of the highly subsidized Health insurance scheme for the aged and such other outlandish activities which have made Ijesa land the envy, model and object of study by other communities in Nigeria.

‎To this contemporary teacher of transparency and accountability,

‎Advocate for integrity and honour,

‎Apostle of Ijesa Unity,

‎Astute Management Consultant,

‎Mobilizer of resources,

‎Friend of the Church, Associate of the Mosque,

‎Exemplar to Traditional belief,

‎Respecter of the Market rights,

‎Father to the Artistes and the youths, all of which may predispose him to envy and misgivings but God protects men of His heart.

‎As the Balogun Ijo of Cathedral Church of Holy Trinity, the Angels of Our Lord will guide and guard Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi in the course of the journeys ahead.

‎We wish you a fulfilled celebration.

‎Signed

‎Mr. & Mrs. Michael Adewale IDOWU
