Address Extra-judicial Killings In Akinlalu By Your Amotekun Boys - Osun APC Challenges Adeleke ....Says, 'Government Insensitive Noise About Federal Allocation Is Smokescreen To Cover Incompetence, Endemic Corruption'

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress(APC) has lambasted Governor Ademola Adeleke for the continued insanity of his government to hijack the federal allocations due to the local governments in the state at a time the people of Akinlalu, in the Ife-North Local Government Council Area of the state are mourning the untimely and gory deaths of their loved ones allegedly killed by the men of the Osun Amotekun Corps.

The people of the state woke up on October 1, Independence Day, to be confronted with the unfortunate news of the extra-judicial killings of many promising youths of Akinlalu town by thugs suspected to be officials of the state Amotekun, allegedly acting on the instruction of their Commander, Mr Kunle Omoyele, a controversial retired police officer.

Following the incident, the Amotekun Corps had gone to town with a narrative which the police has now dispelled  as a falsehood designed to cover the Amotekun's unprofessional conduct.

According to the Nigeria Police, Osun State Command, "the members of Western Security Network also known as Amotekun came in large numbers and invaded Akinlalu community with two official patrol and one private vehicles in retaliation for two pump action guns earlier allegedly snatched from their operatives by yet-to-be-identified person(s).

"During the invasion, they shot sporadically which caused serious bullet injuries on the following people, namely : Adeagbo Kadijat 'f' 22 yrs, Oke-Ila Oyebamiji 'f' 60yrs and Fayomi Toheeb 'm' 19yrs. It was further alleged that, three persons lost their lives during the shooting and their corpses were taken away by Amotekun operatives."

The residents of the community had faulted the claim of the Amotekun Corps that its operatives were first ambushed by armed hoodlums, maintaining that the community is peace-loving and has no history of harbouring hoodlums.

But rather than sweeping to action to ensure justice for the affected citizens, the bumbling governor of Osun State was dancing around the state with no plan to bring succour to the mourning parents and community.

To cover the security scandal and escape public backlash, the distraught Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) government in the state mobilized some of their frustrated fanatics to pollute the media space with false information regarding the local government allocation, thinking that the falsehood would distract the public and save the government of the attendant embarrassment arising: first, from the pogrom in Akinlalu and second, the demand of our party for Governor Adeleke to refund the N84 billion his government had spent from the federal allocations due to the 30 local governments in the state.

We are happy that the forged letter in circulation has failed to achieve its malicious intent, as informed members of the public are asking why a purported official correspondence addressed to a bank was conveyed in an unknown, strange and different letterhead of Boluwaduro Local Government, bearing no reference number and without any date.

The savage scoundrels had thought that disseminating misinformation aimed at tarnishing the image of our party and local government chairmen would demoralize us from further asking the governor to account for the over N60 billion he spent for the Governor's Office in the last three years.

They had thought the falsehood would distract our party from asking the government to disclose details of visits of its keys officials to the EFCC office in Abuja over contract scams and mismanagement of the FG's TETFUND and UBEC funds.

We are more than resolute to continue to play a responsible opposition at the state level just as we are ready to give quality governance at the grassroots level as our party has now transitioned to be the governing party at the 30 local government areas in the state following the 10th of February, 2025 Court of Appeal judgement reinstating our chairmen and councillors as well as due recognition accorded our elected local government executives by the CBN, Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, FAAC and other statutory institutions in the country.

The PDP government in Osun State should come to reality that the table has changed as it has become an opposition in the 30 local governments in the state.

We are only hoping that the corruption-riddled and intellectually-lazy party would rise to the occasion and play a decent, patriotic and responsible opposition until the tenure of our officials ends in 2028.
