With the deepest humility, a profoundly grateful heart, and an overwhelming sense of divine joy, I extend my unreserved appreciation to everyone who has honoured me with their illustrious presence, heartfelt prayers, thoughtful goodwill, and immeasurable love during the grand, nine- day long celebration of my 70th Birthday.
This landmark milestone in my life transcended personal jubilation; it became a collective festival of thanksgiving, gratitude, heritage, and humanity. By your distinguished presence, you have added splendour, radiance, grace, and majestic dignity to the celebration, transforming it into a historic assembly of unity, cultural pride, and divine thanksgiving; a radiant expression of Ijesa excellence, Yoruba resilience, and national inspiration.
I wish to first and foremost express my profound appreciation to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his gracious and heartwarming Congratulatory Message on the occasion of my 70th Birthday. In the glorious tapestry of my 70th Birthday Celebration, one of the most inspiring and historic highlights was the extraordinary convergence of our illustrious Ijesa sons and daughters in the diaspora. Leaving behind the comfort and sacrifice of their homes, the demands of their work, far distances, and the embrace of their families, they journeyed from across continents from Canada, the United States, Europe, Africa, and Asia to their ancestral home in a demonstration of unity, loyalty, and deep-rooted pride. This remarkable act stands as an unprecedented milestone in the annals of Ijesaland, symbolizing the enduring bond that connects every Ijesa heart, irrespective of geography or generation. That our esteemed diaspora community devoted a day out of the nine-day celebration to honour me was not merely a gesture of affection, it was a profound declaration of solidarity, respect, and collective identity. It reaffirmed the truth that Ijesaland’s greatness lies not only in its history, but in the hearts of her people wherever they may be found. Indeed, this momentous gathering has redefined the essence of communal belonging and has set a new benchmark for unity among the Ijesa in the global arena. For this, I remain eternally grateful.
