A devastating gas explosion at a sub-outlet in Idi Iroko, Amuloko, Ibadan, has claimed the lives of four people and caused widespread destruction, with property worth millions of naira destroyed.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred around 7 p.m. on Friday when the outlet was attempting to refill its container from a tanker. The explosion happened while technicians were troubleshooting a fault, and it claimed the lives of the technician and two passersby.
Residents had previously warned the owner about the risks of having the gas outlet in the area, citing its proximity to residential buildings. The police have arrested the owner.
The incident has left the community in shock, with many calling for increased safety measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.
