Investigations reveal that Bola Oyebamiji, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), is poised to resign from his position ahead of the December 13 primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State.
Oyebamiji, a leading aspirant for the APC gubernatorial ticket, is expected to step down this week to comply with Nigeria's Electoral Act 2022, which requires public office holders to resign at least one month before participating in political activities.
The Osun APC currently has 13 aspirants vying for the party's ticket, with Oyebamiji considered a frontrunner. His resignation is seen as a strategic move to focus on his gubernatorial bid, challenging incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Oyebamiji's candidacy is backed by influential figures, including former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, and he's touted as a strong contender to unseat incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party. His experience in governance, finance, and infrastructure development positions him as a formidable candidate.
