A devastating accident occurred on November 19, 2025, claiming the lives of 16 prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members from Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED), Ondo. The victims were traveling to the Gombe orientation camp when their 18-seater bus crashed on a highway in northern Nigeria, reportedly after the driver lost control of the vehicle.
The deceased were part of the 2025 Batch C corps members posted to serve in Gombe State. Two survivors are currently receiving medical attention in critical condition.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) are expected to investigate the cause of the accident.
This tragic incident has sparked widespread grief and renewed calls for improved transportation arrangements and safety measures for NYSC participants.
