‎‎A Tale of Generosity vs. Greed: How N34 bn Miracle Hospital Puts Adeleke Family in the Shadows .... By Oladimeji Lasore

‎Nigerian business magnate and philanthropist Folorunso Alakija has gifted Osun State University (UNIOSUN) a *N34 billion medical research and training hospital*. Named the Modupe & Folorunso Alakija Medical Research and Training Hospital, the 250‑bed facility includes:

‎- 16 intensive‑care units (ICUs)
‎- 4 ultra‑modern operating theatres
‎- Advanced diagnostic imaging (CT, MRI, ultrasound, X‑ray)
‎- Radiotherapy suites
‎- Specialized neonatal care and dialysis units
‎- 20 clinical departments

‎The hospital is designed to bridge classroom learning with hands‑on practice, offering medical training, research opportunities, and high‑quality healthcare to the people of Osun and beyond. University officials say the donation marks a “significant contribution to healthcare development in Nigeria” and underscores the power of private philanthropy to shape public destiny.

‎A Biblical Parallel

‎The gesture draws a stark contrast to the *Adeleke dynasty*, the politically influential family that, critics say, has “feasted on state resources while the medical sector languishes.” In the words of *1 Samuel 18:6‑9*, the people of Osun are urged to “mock” the dynasty’s excesses and instead celebrate Alakija’s superior success.

‎> _“When the men of the city saw what the Lord had done, they sang, ‘The Lord has given us a great victory!’ … So the women sang and danced, saying, ‘Saul has slain his thousands, and David his tens of thousands.’”_

‎The passage is invoked to highlight how, like David’s triumph over Saul, Alakija’s philanthropy outshines the perceived misrule of the Adeleke family.
