In a proud moment for the Ilesa community, two distinguished alumni of Ilesa Grammar School have been appointed as non‑career ambassadors by President Bola Tinubu, Commander‑in‑Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and subsequently confirmed by the Senate.
The appointments, announced after a rigorous Senate screening on Tuesday, add the names of Professor Folorunso Adewole and Senator Grace Folasade Bent, CON to the list of Nigeria’s newest diplomatic representatives. Both graduates are celebrated figures from Ilesa Grammar School and the broader Ijesaland region, underscoring the school’s long‑standing reputation for producing outstanding leaders.
Commenting on an ILEGSOSA WhatsApp platform an old student remarked, “_My alumni and people are brighter than yours_,” a tongue‑in‑cheek reference to the historic rivalry between Ilesa Grammar School and other institutions. He added that the achievement reflects the collective brilliance of Ijesaland’s youth and the supportive environment fostered by the school.
Senator Bent, while expressing gratitude, was quoted saying, “I thank God for this honor and for the opportunity to serve our country. I share this moment with my alma mater, my family, and the people of Ijesaland.”
Local leaders hailed the appointments as a testament to the quality of education and mentorship offered at Ilesa Grammar School. “Tell me, which school or community in Nigeria can boast of such alumni?” asked a senior member of the Ijesaland Development Council. “Ilesa Grammar School continues to shine brighter than any other.”
The President’s office praised the selections, noting that the new ambassadors bring a wealth of experience in academia, politics, and public service. Their appointments are expected to strengthen Nigeria’s diplomatic outreach, particularly in areas where cultural ties and regional expertise are vital.
The Senate’s confirmation followed a thorough vetting process, during which both nominees were commended for their integrity, dedication, and commitment to national development.
As the two ambassadors prepare to assume their new roles, Oladimeji Lasore CEO, KAKAKIOODUA Online Media, also an alumnus of Ilesa Grammar School extends heartfelt congratulations and prayers for a successful tenure.
