Osun 2026: Oyebamiji Submits Expression of Interest, Nomination Forms, Reaffirms Victory






As Osun governorship election draws near, the frontline gubernatorial aspirant of the Nigeria's ruling party --- the All Progressives Congress, APC in the forthcoming August 8th, 2026 Osun governorship election, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly called AMBO on Tuesday submitted all his filled and approved Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms at the party's National Secretariat, Abuja.


Oyebamiji expressed confidence in his capacity, competence and charisma to lead APC to victory and triumph in the scheduled party primary and main governorship election, saying "we are  resolute to unseat incumbent government and return APC to government next year"


This is even as the chieftains of the party threw weights behind Oyebamiji's consistency, steadiness, impressive and avowed commitment to lead the party to victory. 


Recall that Oyebamiji, the immediate past Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer National Inland Waterways Authority ( NIWA) had toured all the 30 Local Government Areas and Ife-East Area Office, Modakeke on consultation visits before obtaining the party's form last week, a move considered by the party's stalwarts as remarkable and motivating. 


Oyebamiji was accompanied to the party's headquarters in Abuja by powerful leaders of the party, which included: Senior Special Assistant to the President on Protocol, Ambassador Issah Niniola; former Speaker Osun State House of Assembly Rt Timothy Owoeye; former Chief Whip, Osun State House of Assembly and current Federal Commissioner representing Osun State in the National Population Commission, NPC, Dr. Amidu Tadese; former member of House of Representatives and Chairman, Federal Character Commission, FCC, Hon. Ayo Omidiran; Former member House of Representatives and current Commissioner for the South West zone on the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC), Hon. Taiwo Oluga; Former members House of Representatives, Hon. Rufus Oyegbile, Hon. Gafar Amere, Hon. Lawrence Babatunde Ayeni; Executive Director, Project Implementation, Federal Housing Authority, FHA, Engr Oluremi Omowaiye; Executive Director, Marine and Operations, Engr Olalekan Badmus; former member of House of Assembly and board member of the Nigerian Shippers' Council, Hon. Olufunmilayo Olasehinde.


Also in Oyebamiji's entourage were: former Deputy Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Nike Omoworare; former Secretaries to the Osun State Government, Prince Wole Oyebamiji and Alhaji Kazeem Adio.


Also in solidarity with Oyebamiji at the party's National Secretariat were: former House of Assembly lawmakers, Hon. Hon. Kamil Oyedele, Hon. Olasunkami Akinola Omotuntun, Hon. Ajibola Akinloye, Hon. Oyebamiji and his entourage were warmly received by the leadership of the party led by the APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, at the party's national secretariat.


Addressing journalists shortly after the submission, Oyebamiji noted that the exercise was in fulfilment of the electoral requirements and party's guidelines to ensure smooth contest. 


Oyebamiji who was a two-term Osun Finance Commissioner and erstwhile Managing Director Osun Investment Company Limited, OSICOL extolled the leadership of the party for building a formidable frontier that had placed the party high not only in Nigeria or Africa but in the global scene. 


He particularly commended the leadership of AMBO Movement led by the immediate past Speaker Osun State House of Assembly Rt Timothy Owoeye for the implementation of the lofty initiatives that had taken the Movement thus far. 


Asked what prompted his motive to contest, Oyebamiji attributed his determination to the need to rescue the state from the drift of collapse the current administration has plunged it into.
