Tributes have continued to pour in for Sir Olakunle Akanni Odeyemi, a renowned financial expert and political figure in Ijesaland, as he marked his 80th birthday amid widespread admiration and goodwill.

In a heartfelt birthday message dated January 15, 2026, Engr. Dideolu Falobi, FNSE, FCIoD, the Bobajiro of Ilesa, described Odeyemi as a towering personality whose life exemplifies discipline, prudence and selfless service. Falobi, who is also a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, hailed the octogenarian as “Ijesaland’s financial and political icon.”

According to Falobi, Sir Odeyemi’s influence transcends titles and offices, noting that his life has remained a lesson in principled leadership, resilience and quiet strength. He recalled that Odeyemi consistently demonstrated that politics is fundamentally about service and integrity rather than showmanship or shortcuts.

“Even in the face of severe personal and political trials, Sir Odeyemi responded with faith, humour and an uncommon resolve never to give up,” Falobi stated, adding that the elder statesman has become a living archive of the region’s political history and a moral compass for younger generations.

The tribute further highlighted Odeyemi’s roots in the Bewaji Dynasty of Igbaye Quarters, Ilesa, describing him as not only a respected uncle and leader but also a dependable source of counsel whose legacy is anchored on character rather than office.
