Warm tributes have been paid to a former Governor of Osun State and elder statesman as he marked his 87th birthday, with admirers describing him as one of the finest leaders produced by Nigeria’s progressive political tradition.
In a goodwill message, Engr. Dideolu Falobi, FNSE, FCIoD, the Bobajiro of Ilesa, praised the celebrant for his steadfast leadership, discipline, courage and lifelong commitment to public service. Falobi noted that the former governor’s tenure and post-office conduct have continued to inspire generations while reinforcing the ideals of accountable and principled governance.
According to him, the elder statesman has remained a dependable source of guidance within progressive political circles, earning respect for his wisdom, resilience and unwavering dedication to the public good.

The former governor is widely regarded as a key figure in the evolution of progressive politics in Osun State, with a record of service that continues to attract admiration across political and generational lines.
Engr. Falobi, the author of the tribute, is a former contestant in the Osun State chapter of the APC 2026 governorship race, which eventually produced Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) as the party’s consensus candidate.
