ICDA Announces Maiden Ijesa Stakeholders Meeting for January 29 (Read details)




 



The Ijesa Community Development Assembly (ICDA) has announced plans to hold its maiden Ijesa Stakeholders Meeting on Thursday, January 29, 2026, in a move aimed at fostering unity and accelerating sustainable development across Ijesaland.


According to a statement issued by the Board of Trustees of ICDA, the historic meeting will be held virtually and will bring together eminent sons and daughters of Ijesaland, friends of the region, and critical stakeholders from within and outside Nigeria.


The meeting is designed to formally introduce members of the ICDA Board of Trustees and Management Team, present the organisation’s developmental achievements across Ijesaland, unveil its comprehensive development roadmap, and engage stakeholders in shaping a united, inclusive and sustainable future for the region.


The virtual stakeholders’ meeting is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. prompt, with the Zoom meeting link to be made available ahead of the event.


Objectives of the Meeting


ICDA stated that the meeting will focus on presenting its achievements, business operations and governance structure, as well as unveiling its Ward-Based Participatory and All-Community-Inclusive Development Model, known as the Ijesa Development Fund (IDF). The forum will also showcase the vision, structure and opportunities of the IDF in driving development across all 64 wards in Ijesaland, while seeking collective buy-in, partnership and ownership from stakeholders.


Wide Range of Participants Expected


The meeting is open to a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including traditional rulers, chiefs, community leaders, pan-Ijesa societies and clubs, professional bodies, business and corporate organisations, vocational groups, religious and political organisations, community development associations, Ijesa diaspora groups, youth organisations, market associations, vulnerable groups, royal families, residents of the six local government areas in Ijesaland, as well as friends and associates of Ijesas at home and abroad.


Call for Collective Responsibility


ICDA emphasised that the sustainable development of Ijesaland requires collective vision and action, noting that the organisation is committed to building a future that leaves no ward, no community and no Ijesa behind.

Describing the meeting as a defining moment in the collective journey of Ijesaland, the organisers urged stakeholders to actively participate, contribute ideas and be part of the historic decisions that will shape the region’s future.


Conveners


The meeting is being convened by Asiwaju Olayinka Fasuyi, Asiwaju of Ijesaland and Chairman of the ICDA Board of Trustees, alongside other trustees including Chief Akinwande AkinolaErelu Olusola Agbeja-ObadaSir Supo ShadiyaAjirowa Alhaji Lateef BakareSir Dr. Ademola Aladekomo, and Prince (Rev.) Lowo Adebiyi, who serves as Board Secretary.

ICDA reiterated that the future of Ijesaland depends on the active participation of its people, calling on all stakeholders to be present and take ownership of the development agenda.
